The Royal Ontario Museum was, and still is, as grand of a Toronto landmark as you’re going to get. It gave me all the feels to be able to photograph Megan and Nick’s beautiful English style ROM wedding.
When I was just a kid growing up in Toronto, going to the ROM was one of my favourite things to do. This was before the Michael Lee Chin Crystal and the teardown of the Planetarium, when you entered through the doors on Queen’s Park and when the bat cave was actually kind of freaky (c’mon back me up here).
This whole wedding day felt like you were in the middle of Covent Garden, with luscious blooms and pretty touches everywhere. Megan and Nick collaborated with the incredibly talented and super lovely Lauren from Blush and Bowties to bring their ROM wedding vision to life.
Beginning at the stunning AirBnB at 55 MacPherson Ave, this getting ready location was selected perfectly. Not only was there tons of room to spread out and accommodate hair and make-up, but it fit the theme perfectly. It was like walking into a turn of the century London townhome.
The ceremony took place just a short jaunt down Philosopher’s Walk at UofT’s Trinity College, where Megan and Nick met in their first week of school. It’s not quite Westminster Abbey, but pretty close.
All of the guests were ushered to the ROM for cocktails under a giant dinosaur, and dinner surrounded by artifacts.
Dinner finished with a guided lesson in Irish dancing, which went….well….you’ll see.
There were so many gorgeous touches, but I have to say the florals by Hunt and Gather were jaw dropping. I can still almost smell them today. Seriously magic.
The bridesmaids’ dresses complimented the lovely pastel, mauve colours. As always, mismatched dresses for the win! The simply but striking blowouts flowed perfectly.
In keeping with the Royal Ontario Museum vibe, the cake topper was an epic hit. Upon closer viewing, you’ll see a mini Mr. and Mrs. T-Rex. Cause why not?
