Beautiful Brick Works Wedding | Alexis + Aaron

Sometimes I struggle with how to start blog posts, so let me just say that this beautiful Brick Works wedding was the freakin’ best.

The Couple

Alexis and Aaron are simply the loveliest. I got to know them (and their dog Bailey) while doing one of my favourite engagement sessions ever in Muskoka last winter. They’re open, kind, and a pretty fun team to spend an afternoon with!

When I met their families on the wedding day, it was no surprise that the apples don’t fall far from the tree. Everyone was so genuine. It was such a pleasure to be around, and there were so many touching moments between them.

They’re both doctors, and met at med school. Many of the guests were also doctors, so many in fact that they were given special permission to keep their phones on during the ceremony in case they were on call. That was a first for me!

I was so excited to photograph their Brick Works wedding day. I knew it was gonna be great, but they exceed my expectations.

The Details

Alexis and Aaron, along with Jess from Bisous Events collaborated to leave no detail forgotten.

They wanted the day to be filled with blush and rose tones, but not be overly feminine. Collaborating with Rosehill Blooms, they totally pulled it off. It’s all about the subtleties. If I remember correctly, Jess drove out of the city to get their very specific colour of napkin. That’s dedication.

The weather was a bit iffy that day. I checked the weather report about every 5 minutes, but even it didn’t predict the epic 30 minute thundershower that took place mid afternoon. Luckily, Brick Works has a large covered area to take wedding photos.

The ceremony got moved into the Brick Works’ greenhouse area. And honestly, I love it in there. The graffiti wall adds such a unique element to the day.

But after, the sun shone brilliantly.

The evening was filled with laughs, a few tears, two super great emcees, and authentic, real moments that made my heart grow a few sizes.

Thank you both for being yourselves on your wedding day, and putting together such a freakin’ great party.
